In celebration of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, a new retail store is opening up on historic Commercial Street in Springfield.

Upside Down Mercantile had a grand opening on Oct. 1 for their new, larger location.

“Working with people a lot and I try and get people to be happy for it and I like it,” said Nathan Mathis, the owner of Upside Down Mercantile. “One of the best times I ever had, since I was born.”

The store initially opened about two years ago by the Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks. They feature products selected and created by those with Down syndrome ... click here to read more
